Father Jose Maria Cima and Father Joe Felker arrived in the Diocese of San Bernardino within a few years of each other, transplanted from other parts of the country and the world. They would go on to lead several parishes in the Diocese, including two in the city of Redlands during the same time period.
PERRIS—Josemari “Joe” Manahan, a teacher at St. James School in Perris and a music minister known throughout the Diocese, was called to eternal rest on Aug. 31 after he died from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
Archbishop John Quinn, a strong and compassionate voice of leadership in the U.S. Church who traced his roots to the Diocese of San Bernardino, passed away on June 22 at the age of 88.

RIVERSIDE—Cathy Thompson, the longest tenured Catholic school principal in the Diocese, was called to eternal rest on September 25. She died of complications from cancer.
