After claiming land at the corner of Lugonia Avenue and Dearborn Street in Redlands in October 2023, The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community officially broke ground on its new parish home on March 1. The Redlands parish community was joined by Bishop Alberto Rojas, Diocesan Office of Construction & Real Estate, Redlands Troop 11 Boy Scouts, Redlands civic leaders and more to celebrate the historic occasion.

The new campus will unite the parish’s two sites, at Columbia Street and at Olive Avenue, into one location.
The first phase of the project will develop the foundational infrastructure for the 20-acre property, Dearborn Street entrances, 340 parking spaces, parish hall, offices, ministry meeting rooms, commercial kitchen, youth center and patio, outdoor stage, pavilion and landscaping.

The new Campus will:

  • UNITE the Olive and Columbia sites into one and meet future growth needs.
  • EXPAND today’s combined acreage from 6 to 20 acres.
  • PARK 521 autos with drop off areas vs. today’s combined 185 spaces.
  • CONSTRUCT a Church seating 1,500 vs. today’s combined 850; includes an Adoration Chapel and full-immersion Baptism Font
  • SEAT 470 in the Hall for dinners with a full-service commercial kitchen vs. today’s combined 275 seats.
  • INCLUDE in the Hall 13 expandable meeting rooms and a volunteer project room.
  • INCORPORATE a Youth Center with an outdoor patio, 4 classrooms, and restrooms.
  • INCREASE Sacred Heart Academy’s capacity from 300 to 530 students.
  • INTEGRATE multiple outdoor gathering spaces, sports and recreational areas, including a soccer field with a running track.
  • CREATE efficient office space for parish and school staff.
  • PROVIDE a barrier-free campus to ensure full access to persons with disabilities.
