On March 2, St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Alta Loma celebrated a Holy Mass and Veneration of the first-class relic of Blessed Father Michael McGivney, the founder of the Knights of Columbus. Following the Mass, the Knights of Columbus California State Council Arrowhead Desert Chapter performed the Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity bringing new Knights into the Order. Among those invested was Father Alwyn B. Anfone, parish administrator, who became a Third Degree Knight. Then, on March 3, the Diocesan Pastoral Center welcomed the relic for veneration. Fr. McGivney was a key figure in the growth of Catholicism in America and his example of charity, evangelization and empowerment of the laity continues to bear fruit in the work of the Knights, the world’s largest fraternal service organization. The relic, a fragment of bone, is currently on a national tour.
