Deacon Filipek served in many capacities in the Diocese, especially in Diaconate Admissions Committee, the Diaconate Formation Program, Ministry Formation Institute and many other ministries at St. Mary Magdalene and St. Edward parishes in Corona. He has also served as a police chaplain and as a member of the Corona Interfaith Community and at the California Institute for Women.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie, their children Joleen (Mark-deceased) Cicchinelli, Mike (Julie), Cheryl (Jim) Rybicki and Kim (James) Populorum and grandchilren Sara, Ashley, Krysten, Allyson, Anna, Devin, Nate and Spencer.
He was interned at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Riverside.
