A Mass and dinner-dance was held the following day, where Father Romeo Seleccion, MS, Episcopal Vicar of the San Bernardino Pastoral Region and Vicar General Msgr. Gerard Lopez, S.T.L., presented the parish with an Episcopal Blessing on behalf of Bishop Gerald Barnes. The celebration ended with a family fun day and outdoor Mass on Aug. 24. Parishioners enjoyed fellowship and entertainment.
Parishioners at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, San Bernardino kicked off their celebration of the parish’s 60th anniversary with a Mass and barbecue Aug. 16. During the Mass, Fr Seleccion presented Our Lady of the Assumption administrator Father Henry M. Sseriiso, I.M.C. an Episcopal Blessing on behalf of Bishop Barnes.
The Mass and barbecue also served as an opportunity to wish Pastoral Associate, Sister Maura Redington, R.S.M. farewell. Parishioners paid tribute to Sr. Redington through song, a roast and play.
The parish and school presented Sr. Redington with a trip to Hawaii in gratitude of her service to the parish community. Following her trip to Hawaii, she will retire to her native Ireland.
The parish will continue to celebrate its anniversary year, holding one event monthly through August 2015.
