Tropical Storm Hilary causes several closures and damage to our communities

On August 20, Tropical Storm Hilary passed over California, leaving an impact throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Several evacuation and shelter in place orders were placed for communities near the Oak Glen/ Yucaipa area. The Office of Catholic Schools and other school districts canceled school on Monday August 21, due to the storms aftermath. Xavier College Preparatory School in Palm Desert remained closed until Wednesday, due to several road closures and damage still remaining in the area. Some of our communities of our Low Desert Vicariate had power outages, phone service outages, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mecca received some rain damage to a meeting room.
