Emily Cortez will profess her First Vows at her home parish, Holy Family in Hesperia, on August 15 at 2 p.m. Following the Eucharistic celebration of her First Vows, there will be a reception with family members and the parish community, as well as her religious community, the Congregation of the Evangelizing Eucharistic Sisters of the Poor.
Before Emily began her formation process, she participated in the youth group at her parish, along with her brother, José, who is currently a seminarian in our Diocese of San Bernardino. While in the youth group, Emily met the Eucharistic and Evangelizing Sisters of the Poor. There, Emily was able to get to know the Sisters and shared her questions about a vocation with them and, little by little, she began to have some experiences of a vocation and mission.
On December 25, 2018, she decided to enter as an aspirant. Then, she took her next step to become a Postulant, which consisted of a year of formation. During her third step, Emily went through novitiate formation for two years in Mexico and went on to receive her Novitiate in her parish, Holy Family.
Now, Emily perseveres in her vocation and she is willing to profess for the first time her religious vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience in this religious family.
Sr. Emily, will make her temporary profession of vows into Religious Life, the Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience for one year, consecrating her life to Jesus Christ in the Religious Congregation of the Evangelizing Eucharistic Sisters of the Poor.
Her parents and the rest of her family have always supported her and they continue to do so, so that sometime in the future Emily may profess her Perpetual Vows.
