Father Rafael Partida, Episcopal Vicar for the Riverside Pastoral Region of the Diocese, will officiate the October 15 celebration, which will take place following the 11:30 a.m. Mass at the parish.
The celebration will include a procession, Fatima Rosary, and a family consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with a reception to follow.
The Our Lady of Fatima Shrine at Our Lady of the Lake includes seven figures carved from Estremoz marble by Jose Thedim, who was a witness to the Miracle of the Sun, the final apparition that took place October 13, 1917 in the Portuguese town. The goal of building a shrine to the Blessed Mother was present from the time of the parish’s founding in 1939. It was dedicated only 14 years later, in August of 1953.
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima leading up the Oct. 15 event, the parish has offered Rosaries at its Shrine on the 13th of every month.
