Bishop Gerald Barnes will preside at the 3 p.m. Mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish; 12745 Oriole Avenue; Grand Terrace, CA 92313, followed by a dinner reception in the parish hall.
All healthcare workers from throughout the Diocese are invited to attend and will be honored for their service to others, walking in the steps of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Supreme Healer.
The Diocese will honor with special Awards, those who have gone above and beyond, distinguishing themselves in practice and adhering to Catholic moral values and beliefs. Individuals may be nominated by parishes, hospitals or members or groups in the medical community. The following will be awarded:
St. Luke Award—presented to any doctor/physician who has distinguished himself/herself professionally in a way that reflects Catholic values and moral ethics.
Florence Nightingale Award – presented to any licensed nurse who has distinguished himself/herself in the field of nursing in a way that reflects Catholic values and moral ethics.
Bishop Award – presented to any healthcare provider, other than a physician or nurse, who has distinguished himself/herself by providing healthcare services in a manner that promotes the mission of the Diocese, “so that people’s lives are filled with hope.”
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award – presented to an individual who is not a medical professional, but has supported health projects and programs, or provided ancillary services in the healthcare system, fulfilling the mission of the Diocese, “so that people’s lives are filled with hope.”
