Kevin remembers being separated from his documents and possessions just moments prior to boarding the helicopter in Vietnam. He then was temporarily routed through military plane, and eventually taken to Guam. When Kevin was in Guam, an American military family took him directly from the tent camp at Andersen Air Force Base to their home. He was 11 years old. The same military family also took a younger Vietnamese girl at that time. They later moved to San Diego with Kevin who at that time they named, Peter.
The military family returned him to Guam at a later date. According to Kevin, the family dropped him off at Child Protective Services in Guam, and he was given sanctuary. He spent time in numerous foster homes for the next several years. The military family did not maintain contact or leave a forwarding address for Kevin to stay in touch with them. It was upon his return to Guam that he took the name Kevin.
While he continues to live in Guam, Kevin learned at some point that his mother and his older sister were attending Catholic churches in the Diocese of San Bernardino. He has had some contact with them in the past but not for some time. He longs to be united with them again.
