Following last month’s announcement of his nomination for the prestigious Lumen Christi Award, Father Earl Henley, MSC, longtime chaplain to Native American communities in the Diocese of San Bernardino, has now been named as one of seven finalists for the honor, the Catholic Extension Society announced. “These finalists bring about confidence, joy and faith within the communities they encounter, recognizing the face of Christ within each soul they touch.” Catholic Extension stated in the announcement of finalists. As a finalist, Fr. Henley will receive $10,000 to support and enhance the Office of Native American Ministry where he serves six different Native American Catholic missions in the diocese. The award recipient will be given a $25,000 grant, along with an additional $25,000 grant for the nominating diocese.
