On Feb. 20, parents will learn about the Catholic traditions that surround the liturgical season and how they can be incorporated at home.

The Catechetical program will also hold three other sessions for parents throughout the coming months. The sessions will cover the fatherhood of St. Joseph, the practice of the Crowning of Mary and an overview of the church.

The parish will also be holding several events to engage its parishioners, including a series of talks on the Year of Faith and Catholicism. The mini workshops cater to returning Catholics as the main audience. Under the tagline “Are you ready to be awed by the beauty of the Catholic Church?” the sessions will begin Feb. 18.

“We are very busy here,” said Arcelia Lopez, parish secretary at St. Thomas. “We invite the surrounding parishes and get a good response.”

St. Thomas is also planning a Seder meal at 6:30 p.m. on March 27.

Many parishes will be holding passion plays and Stations of the Cross throughout the Lenten season.

Holy Family Parish in Hesperia will continue the tradition of holding soup suppers on Fridays at 6 p.m. followed by the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m.  The parish prays the Stations of the Cross in English, Spanish, Korean and Tagalog.

St. Francis of Assisi in La Quinta will be offering a Lenten day of reconciliation for women led by Father Robert Finamore on Feb. 23. Themed “Praying with Women in Scripture,” the day will consist of conferences, times for reflection, Mass, and Stations of the Cross. Registrations may be made by calling the parish office by Feb. 19.
