“If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world ablaze. Don’t be Afraid; Answer the Call.”
“I remember Pope John Paul II using it when addressing seminarians at one occasion,” Fr. Tripp said. “I remember reading it and thinking, wow!”
Fr. Tripp made sure that the slogan was not specific to priestly vocations, noting that all vocations are important and necessary in spreading the Gospel Message.
The slogan contest served as one of the Office of Vocation’s attempts to engage young adults. In reviewing the submissions, Sr. Sarah Shrewsbury, OCS, Director of the Office of Vocations, consulted with a group of young adults, seeking their input on which slogan would best serve the office.
The contest, which was open to all young adults ages 18-35 living in the Diocese, was launched in May. Participants were asked to submit a catchy slogan. Young adults had until the end of July to enter their slogan for a chance to win the grand prize.
Fr. Tripp is particularly happy with the grand prize, an iPhone 6 plus.
“My current phone has become unreliable lately. I was surprised and excited when I got the news,” he said. “God sent me just what I needed.”
The slogan will be used in future promotional items.
