SAN BERNARDINO—Luke Maxwell grew up in a good Catholic family, but starting at age 12 he unknowingly began to show signs and symptoms of depression. 

 “All I could feel was why me? Why would this happen to me?” Maxwell said. “I felt that death was the only way out. I wanted to have a good and happy life, but I felt that it wasn’t possible for me.”

SAN BERNARDINO—As the Universal Church continues to celebrate the value of family life this year it was no surprise that local Catholics joined in an annual May Day March in San Bernardino on May 1 sounding a call for immigration policy reform that keeps families together and advocating a living wage for working families.

 Thank you for your generous and life giving gifts to the victims of the earthquakes in Nepal. Together the parishes have raised $134,130.34. The funds are sent to Catholic Relief Services which are presently in Nepal aiding in the relief efforts and ministering to our suffering brothers and sisters who have lost so much.

SAN BERNARDINO—More than 50 individuals were recognized for their service to the Church and community at the annual Diocesan Awards ceremony held on May 20, the Feast of St. Bernardine, patron of the Diocese.  Honorees were awarded the St. Bernardine Award, Our Lady of Guadalupe Award and the St. John Paul II Youth Award.
