St. James cleared its final land use entitlement hurdle on April 4 when it received a certificate of occupancy from Riverside County. The church is built on a 12-acre property on Dunlap Drive in unincorporated Riverside County land near Perris.
The construction, which cost about $7 million, moved fairly quickly. The drive to build the church, which replaces a small, 300 seat church, began back in 1981, however. The Dunlap Drive property was purchased in 1996.
“To the parishioners who labored so hard and contributed their time, talent and treasure to make this dream a reality, words of thanks are not enough,” said Father Eliseo Napiere, M.S.P., parish pastor.
The Dedication of the new church will take place at 2:30 p.m. on May 25; 22190 Dunlap Drive, Perris, CA 92571.
