MECCA—Humility and faith went hand in hand as the faith community of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mecca celebrated the Feast Day of their patroness on Dec. 12.

 The Purepecha, indigenous people from Michoacán, Mexico, joined in the celebration by honoring “La Morenita” through a pilgrimage during which they danced typical rituals in their native dress.

 I dedicate this especially to those souls who are searching for a miracle of love.

 Twenty-eight years ago I became pregnant with my eldest daughter. My little girl was born on February 20, 1988 through the grace of God and the intercession of our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of God.

Bishop Gerald Barnes spends Feast Day with inmates at state prison in Norco

 A mother’s love knows no boundaries.

 Bishop Gerald Barnes offered this message to inmates at the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe as he celebrated Mass and later visited with the men.

 In response to the great need for God’s mercy and strength that exists both locally and around the world, the Diocese of San Bernardino supports projects to aid the poor and disenfranchised through two different Sacrificial Giving Grant programs.
