SAN BERNARDINO—For the third year in a row the diocese offered a day for parents of the region to get advice, ideas and spiritual accompaniment in their most important job.

 The Parent Summit, themed “Empowering Parents and Youth,” drew nearly 500 to Aquinas High School on Sept. 14. The day began with a keynote address from Bishop Gerald Barnes, who told attendees that establishing a strong familial foundation at home, centered on shared practice of faith, leads to success in the class room and good social choices for young people.

UPLAND—At St. Joseph School, the Art Class is redefining the definition of creativity, as it begins the process of integrating “art inquiry.” Art lessons will allow the students to engage in critical and creative thinking, connecting art works with other subject matter.

SAN BERNARDINO—About 200 youth from the Diocese gathered at Aquinas High School in San Bernardino to celebrate Virtual World Youth Day July 27 and 28. With the theme “Go and make disciples of all nations,” the 24-hour event included similar activities the pilgrims at World Youth Day in Brazil experienced, including catechetical talks, music, adoration and Mass.
