Every February, the fourth grade students at St. Joseph School in Upland are assigned to write a report and give a presentation on a historical person of their choice. The person they choose is one who has made a difference in the lives of others. Presentations have included personalities such as Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, General George Patton and Amelia Earhart. For the assignment, students are required to read a biography and use the Internet to find additional information, and then write a report. On “Historical Person Day” students come to school dressed-up as their historical person and give their presentations to classes throughout the school as well as to their parents. Their goal is to teach others about these inspirational people in our history.
