 Father Zhaojun “Jerome” Bai, S.V.D., has Catholic roots as deep as many Westerners. His family, belonging to the tribe that made up the last dynasty to rule China before it came under communist control, practiced the faith freely until the revolution of 1911.

 Bishop Gerald Barnes led a delegation of Catholics from the Diocese of San Bernardino to Orlando, Florida July 1-4 for the historic and wide-ranging Convocation of Catholic Leaders. 

 The Diocese celebrated in May the fifth class or graduates from its Certificate Program in Pastoral Care, a collaborative effort with Loyola Marymount University Extension.

 “I ask myself: will this war ever end, will children ever smile again rather than shedding tears, will we ever get to watch the stars rather than watch black smoke in the sky? But what I know for sure is that the world will not be destroyed by those who do evil but by those who sit and do nothing. Let us pray to our God for peace to spread to our land.” 

ORANGE—On June 28 Lestonnac Free Clinic was honored as a Nonprofit of the Year at a celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

SAN BERNARDINO—Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center welcomed Douglas Kleam to the St. Bernardine Medical Center (SBMC) team. Kleam is the new hospital president, effective June 12.
