Bishop Alberto Rojas and a 47-member diocesan delegation made a nearly two-week pilgrimage to Italy for Jubilee 2025 beginning on March 11 (TOP LEFT). On March 13, (TOP MIDDLE) the group attended a beautiful Mass celebrated by Bishop Rojas at the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi in the stunning Papal Basilica of St. Francis. They captured a moment outside the future resting place of Blessed Carlo Acutis at the Church of St. Mary Major. On March 14 (TOP RIGHT) The diocesan Jubilee pilgrims had the incredible blessing of venerating the relic of the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena. While visiting the Chapel of the Corporal inside the stunning Duomo of Orvieto, they attended Mass with Bishop Rojas and then experienced a rare exposition of the stained linen corporal lead by the Bishop of Orvieto — an event that happens only four times a year! On March 15 (BOTTOM LEFT) Bishop Rojas and Father Jerome Ochetti with Bernini’s statue of St. Bernadine of Siena inside the stunning Duomo of Our Lady of the Assumption and the diocesan pilgrims after celebrating a Mass at St. Domenico Church in Siena, a Jubilee Church. During their March 16 visit to the town of L’Aquila, the site of repose of St. Bernardine, the group celebrated Mass with the local community at the Basilica of San Bernardino. At the conclusion of Mass, Bishop Rojas received two relics of St. Bernardine to bring back home to the diocese. On March 17, (BOTTOM MIDDLE) Bishop Rojas concelebrated a Mass at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica and afterward led pilgrims on the long procession to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica. The Jubilee pilgrimage, he said, “is a special time of grace, a time to remember who we are as Catholic Christians,” and “to pray for the people back home -- so many people have asked us to pray for them.” In the final days of the pilgrimage, from March 19- 21 (BOTTOM RIGHT), the group visited the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls and entered through the Holy Door. The group also visited the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, and the Basilica of St. Mary Major, the largest church in Rome dedicated to our Blessed Mother. The Jubilee pilgrims returned home on March 22.
