Improvements were made to the existing field with funds from the J.F. Shea Company. New grass was planted, and a new irrigation system, new drinking fountains and a new track were installed. New fencing and landscaping surrounds the rejuvenated field, providing a safe and pleasant place for students to engage in physical education classes. A field dedication was held on October 15 to thank the J.F. Shea Company for their generosity.
A grant from Caritas Telecommunications provided funding to purchase a complete set of Chromebook computers and the charging carts for fifth through eighth grades. The J.F. Shea Foundation again granted funds to the school that allowed the purchase of classroom Chromebooks for the remaining grades. As a result of these grants, St. James Catholic School is proud to be the only school in the Diocese of San Bernardino to provide one-to-one technology for the students from first to eighth grade.
On October 20 the school celebrated with a small gathering of individuals who assisted in making the above possible. The student body, members of the school advisory council, Father Pedro Amezcua, our pastor, parents and faculty staff gathered together to say thank you for such amazing gifts.
