On Oct. 4, Our Lady of the Assumption School, San Bernardino dedicated its brand-new student center to longtime supporters, Gary Silvius and Judge Cindy Ludvigsen. The dedication ceremony included celebrating a Mass and blessing over the building.
“It was a great celebration, starting off with praise and worship where the family joined us and even participated in a sing-off led by our choir director, Chris Estrella,” said Patricia Godsy, Our Lady of Assumption School Principal. “This was followed by a beautiful Mass led by our Campus Ministry Team, and finally, the dedication and blessing of the student center.”
Following the Mass, Father Rogelio González, V.F., Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption, provided a blessing over the student center and dedicated it to Silvius and Judge Ludvigsen, to officially proclaim its opening.
Silvius and Judge Ludvigsen have faithfully donated monthly tuition to the school’s scholarship fund for many years. Their children, who are alumni of the school, traveled back home to be with their parents for the special day. The family was very humbled and grateful for the recognition of their efforts to support Catholic education.
“It is our goal that families of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish have the opportunity to choose Catholic education without financial obstacles,” Godsy said.
The Silvius/Ludvigsen Student Center is equipped with tables conducive to student collaboration and an interactive learning system that allows for immediate student response. Students will visit the center for educational resources like advanced mathematics, as well as tutoring in Reading and Mathematics. Additionally, the center will provide space for counseling and after-school clubs.
