This year’s Miss America, Emma Broyles, visited St. Theresa School, Palm Springs, on Sept. 16 to share her inspiring story with the students. Broyles, both the 100th Anniversary Miss America and the first Korean American Miss America titleholder, has been open about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dermatillomania (the repeated urge or impulse to pick at one’s own skin). She has also been active in volunteering for the Special Olympics, inspired by her experience of having an older brother with Down Syndrome.
