Fifth grader Angelina Gutierrez won the second place biology award in the elementary division. Her topic focused on the so-called “Five Second Rule,” measuring whether it is safe to eat something that has fallen on the ground. In her experiment Gutierrez looked at whether or not the same amount of bacteria is transferred from the floor to different foods or objects. She is hoping to enter next year and is already planning to begin her new project. Congratulations Angelina on a job well done.
