RIVERSIDE—The Notre Dame High School Boys Basketball team has had an all-time great season, capturing its first ever CIF Title and advancing all the way to the state title game.
The Titans defeated La Puente Bishop Amat High School 51-46 on March 2 to win its first Division 3A CIF Southern Section Championship. They then rolled through the CIF Regional Tournament, knocking off El Camino High School (64-57), George Washington Prep (73-70) and Knight High School (59-43) before defeating Bishop Amat a second time 69-56 to win the CIF Regional Title.
At press time, they were scheduled to meet Chico Pleasant Valley High School for the CIF-State Division 3 Championship at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on March 24th. Notre Dame carries a record of 33-3 into the championship game.
The season has been something of a redemption tour for Head Coach Robert Robinson and his team.
Last season the Titans suffered two tough losses in the CIF-SS Basketball semifinals and the CIF-State Regional Final.
