Inside the first grade classroom we try our best to follow God’s rules and live as Catholics. One way we do this is by following the Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLE) of our school. The SLE’s allow us to follow God and become responsible people of the community. The SLE’s are as follows; be a Faith-filled Catholic, Lifelong Learner, Effective Communicator, and Responsible Citizen.

In first grade we know all our SLE’s, and we can even sing you a song about them.

During Catholic Schools Week this year we decided to focus on all four SLE’s and strive to achieve them. As Faith-filled Catholics, we attended Mass, prayed special intentions, and participated in a “Do You Know Bible” game. As Lifelong Learners, we continued to practice with technology; Ozobots. The Ozobots are coding gadgets that allow the students to train a mini robot. The students learn key life skills such as patience, self-control, critical thinking, and technology fundamentals. As Effective Communicators, we practiced writing and reading. As Responsible Citizens, we picked up trash, donated money to the poor and donated granola bars to the needy.

We accomplished our goals and completed it with a helpful and happy smile on our faces.
