The topic this year was: “What does President John F. Kennedy’s ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” quote mean to you?” Each school selected four of their best essays to represent their school and then a three-member committee from Assembly 0050 judged the 12 essays submitted.
The results of the contest are as follows: First Place – Rowan Jack (St. Francis de Sales School/$100), Second Place – Maria Brunner (St. Francis de Sales School/$75), Third Place – Joseph Calamore (St. Thomas the Apostle School/$50), and fourth Place/ Honorable Mention – Getsy Rico (St. Francis de Sales School/$25). All the other students who did not receive a cash award were given a Patriotic Service Award Certificate of Participation. All these awards and certificates were presented to the students at their appropriate school’s year end awards ceremony events on June 8th.
