This year, the students decided to support the Special Olympics. Sacred Heart School student council members hosted bake sales, buck-a-jeans, and popsicle sales in hopes of raising enough money to cover the training and competition costs for a Special Olympics athlete of Southern California.

With the overwhelming support of the entire student body and families, enough money was raised to cover the training and competition costs for five athletes from the local Inland Empire Region. On March 3, Sacred Heart School welcomed a Special Olympics athlete named, Amanda, to hear her speak about her personal experience with the Special Olympics and how much joy it brings her to have such programs available to her and her friends.

Sacred Heart School students, from kindergarten to eighth grade, signed a ‘Spread the Word to End the R-Word’ banner. They took a pledge to show respect to everyone and help promote the acceptance and inclusion of all people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
