The faithful of the Diocese of San Bernardino gathered with Bishop Gerald Barnes at St. Adelaide Church on Jan. 8 to celebrate the annual Migrant Mass. The liturgy followed the national theme “A Culture of Encounter” and included personal testimonials of Catholics who have experienced migration.


Bishop Barnes is asking Catholics of the Diocese to fast and pray for healing and the success of the United States as new President Donald J. Trump is sworn into office. Parishes of the Diocese are requested to observe one day of fasting between January 3-19. Read Article

On Saturday, December 17th, thousands gathered for the Transitional Diaconate Ordination at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Riverside. Bishop Barnes installed Alwyn Anfone, Alex Rodarte, Juan Sandoval, and Fidel Rivero as transitional deacons. They are scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 2017 at St. Paul The Apostle Church in Chino Hills. View Photos


Nearly 500 community guests and families received a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings Nov. 22 at St. Bernardine Medical Center’s Family Focus Center in San Bernardino. Guests also received a free jacket or sweater and a flu shot. It was the 22nd year of the event, offered by Dignity Health at its two San Bernardino hospitals.

The Diocese celebrated the Jubilee Year of Mercy on November 19th at Queen of Angels Church in Riverside. In his homily Bishop Gerald Barnes encouraged the faithful to carry forward the practices of mercy that they embraced during the Jubilee Year, which closed on the Feast of Christ the King, November 20.
