Serra House holds open house to commemorate 25th anniversary
GRAND TERRACE – Serra House supporters, seminarians, priests and diocesan bishops, including the diocese’s first bishop, reflected on the history and evolution of Blessed Junipero Serra House of Formation at an open house and evening of prayer on May 24.
Seminarians offered tours of the Grand Terrace campus. Following the open house, the seminarians invited the participants to join them in their evening prayers and had various speakers offer their thoughts on Serra House.
Msgr. Gerard Lopez, S.T.L., VG, Father John Vieira, pastor at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Ontario and current seminarian Carlos Martinez spoke on their experience at Serra House. Bishop Emeritus of Reno and first bishop of the Diocese of San Bernardino, Philip Staling, shared what his vision for Serra House was 25 years ago and rejoiced in how his vision has evolved and grown in a short time.
