At the Civic Center Plaza, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano delivered a papal blessing and message from Benedict XVI, commending walkers for their public witness.

As over 50,000 people walked through the heart of the city’s shopping and financial district, icy winds were met by a beautiful ray of sunshine from youth and young adults. These are young men and women who do not buy into the 40-year mentality that has left their moms, dads, sisters and friends wounded by the false promises of abortion. Their message was profoundly clear, “We will never give up until every human life has an inherent right to life.”

Among the walkers were students from the Newman Ministries of the California State University, San Bernardino and the University of Redlands, students from Notre Dame High School, diocesan seminarians, the Knights of Columbus as well as over a hundred faithful parishioners from across San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Back at home, members of the group Concerned Citizens of the High Desert that could not join Bishop del Riego in San Francisco, and others from the faith community, organized the first annual Walk for Life in Victorville. Led by the Knights of Columbus Color Corp, over 100 people prayerfully marched on behalf of the voiceless, while reaching out to those hurt by abortion.
