SAN BERNARDINO—Following consultation with the priests, deacons, religious and pastoral coordinators of the High Desert and West End Vicariates, Bishop Gerald Barnes announced his appointment of Vicars Forane for those regions.
Father Benedict Nwachukwu-Udaku has been reappointed for a term of four years as Vicar Forane for the West End. Fr. Nwachukwu is the Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Rancho Cucamonga.
Father Canice Nwizu has been appointed for a term of four years as Vicar Forane for the High Desert. He is the Administrator of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Adelanto. He succeeds Father John Fahnestock, MSC, in that position.
The appointments are effective Sept. 1.
Vicars Forane represent the leadership of Bishop Barnes in each of the six vicariates of the Diocese. These vicars convene Vicariate Meetings throughout the year and come together quarterly for consultative meetings with Bishop Barnes.
