This unique event will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria parish in Riverside and will begin at 6 p.m.

Fr. Gregory Boyle is best known for his vital work through Homeboy Industries, a local organization that serves up to 1,000 former gang members and recently incarcerated each month, seeking job training, placement and counseling.

Homebody Industries is one of the largest, most comprehensive and most successful gang intervention, and rehabilitation and re-entry programs in the country. Fr. Boyle chronicled this ministry in his book “Tattoos on the Heart.”

He is a strong supporter of Catholic Charities and shares the organization’s focus on boundless compassion, redemption, social justice and unconditional love.

“Compassion isn’t just about feeling the pain of others; it’s about bringing them in toward yourself. If we love what God loves, then, in compassion, margins get erased. ‘Be compassionate as God is compassionate,’ means the dismantling of barriers that exclude.” – Fr. Gregory Boyle, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion.

Attendees of the Making a Difference Event will be treated to a delicious dinner catered by Homegirl Café, a subsidiary of Homeboy Industries that assists high-risk and formerly gang-involved young women through training in restaurant service and culinary arts.

The night will also include a traditional silent auction and several opportunity drawings.

All proceeds from the Making a Difference event will support the vital work of Catholic Charities San Bernardino-Riverside to care for the poor and disadvantaged in our local communities.

If you would like to attend this unique event, you can purchase tickets online at www.ccsbriv.org, or over the phone at (909) 388-1239 x324. Admission tickets are $50 and include dinner.
