“After the first book was done, I already had experiences and thoughts that I had to write down,” said Fr. Guido, who is the administrator of St. Louis Parish in Cathedral City.
Similar in style to his previous book, “Eco y palabra del pensamiento” is a collection of short poems and prayers written in Spanish. Sprinkled throughout the book Fr. Guido also includes original artwork.
“I looked for images that go with the subject of the book, not just one poem,” he said. “Images and symbols, they are food for thought. They get people thinking.”
Like the images, the poetry, reflections and prayers in the book focus on the hidden beauty in life. One of the poems, “Mujer,” was a result of reflecting on the need to thank the women he has come across in his life.
“These are things that you see everyday, simple things of life, that provoke thought,” Fr. Guido said. “Each poem has its own truth and has something to tell us about life.”
While a portion of the sales of his first book went to the parish he was assigned to, this time a portion will go towards Blessed Junipero Serra House of Formation, Grand Terrace. He hopes this will be one way people may support the seminarians studying at Serra House and support vocation promotion efforts.
The book can be purchased at St. Louis Parish or online at palibrio.com or barnesandnoble.com.
The official book launching will take place on June 12 at St. Louis Parish. The celebration will begin with Mass at 6 p.m. and will continue with a reception and art exhibition in the parish hall.
Invited guests include Laura Lopez, Pastoral Coordinator of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Indio; Father Jose Sanz, D.L.P., Rector of Blessed Junipero Serra House of Formation and Sister Sarah Shrewsbury, O.S.C., Vocations Director. Lopez assisted in editing the book and Fr. Sanz wrote the introduction.
