REDLANDS—Excited by the thought of a Year of Mercy when it was first announced in April 2015 I knew right then I wanted to do something to make the Father’s mercy visible, something that put Jesus at the center and could reach out to others.

RIALTO—“The science trays have marshmallows.” 

 This one comment from a student was enough to stir up excitement from my class of fifth graders when they walked back into the classroom after recess one April morning. 

SAN BERNARDINO—Promoting Catholic Education and explaining the opportunity it offers the Latino, African American and the underprivileged was the topic of a panel discussion at the Latino Education and Advocacy Days (LEAD) Summit VII held at California State, University San Bernardino on March 30.

 The Diocese’s three Catholic high schools produced some of the most hard working, driven and talented graduates of 2016. A graduating senior from each high school was selected by their school to be featured in this month’s issue.

REDLANDS—Three students from Sacred Heart Academy in Redlands won individual competitions at the statewide Junior High School Academic Decathlon for Catholic Schools held on Apr. 9.

 In September of 2015, the junior high students of Our Lady of the Assumption School (OLA) began learning about the stock market through The Stock Market Game, an online educational activity in which millions of students have participated since its inception in 1977.
