The Senior Cheer Leaders (grades 5-8) received second place in their category during the Christmas parade. The girls worked very hard to prepare their performances for each parade. The school and their cheer coach are extremely proud of them and the accomplishments they have achieved. The St. James cheer teams are led by very dedicated volunteers, Ms. Ashley Barrios and Mrs. Florentina Pacheco.

In addition, the school entered a float in the Christmas parade which received second place out of all the entries in this category. Students of the school were invited to ride on the float along with those students who portrayed the Nativity Scene. The float was a combination of efforts by parent volunteers with the school secretary, Laura Javier, coordinating the project. In the end the float turned out to be a beautiful replication of the true meaning of Christmas, our Lord Jesus Christ.

“It was wonderful watching our students and parents participating in the parades and representing St. James Catholic School in a positive way,” said Principal Camile Lara. Now students and parents say they will strive to achieve first place next year.

“The fact that we are able to gather together as a community and work together to accomplish a goal is the important thing, not the trophy we receive,” Lara said.
