The topic this year was: “Why I Appreciate Our American Veterans.” Each of the three schools that participated selected four of their best essays to represent their school and then a three-member committee from the Assembly judged the 12 essays submitted. St. Edward Catholic School swept all four cash prizes – only the second time in recent years, with a school average score of 88!

The winners were: First Place – Liana Jeciel, Second Place – Ryan Bordner, Third Place – Dana Santiago, and Fourth Place/Honorable Mention – Matthew Espares. Faithful Navigator Michael Hall presented the awards to the students during the school’s Seventh and Eighth Grade Award Ceremonies on June 1 and June 7.
