Bishop Gerald Barnes, the Office of Charismatic Renewal held their 2018 Conference on Feb. 3rd at the University of Cal State San Bernardino. The event was led by guest Speakers included Michelle Moran, former president of the “International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services” (ICCRS), and Friar Nelson Medina, international speaker from Colombia.

Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Rutilio del Riego reflects on his recent visit to Gaza and the West Bank of Israel

  Bishop Rutilio del Riego had studied the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for practically his entire adult life. He had thought about it and prayed about it through the lens of his Catholic faith. He had even visited the Holy Land once before.

On Feb. 3, the Diocese ended Catholic Schools Week on a high note with the annual Catholic School Awards Banquet held in honor of the volunteers, staff, teachers, and alumni who have impacted Catholic schools in the diocese. Among the honorees was Fr. Erik Esparza, who received the Good Shepherd Award, given to one who is a spiritual leader who serves. View Awardees

Among the thousands of Catholics who marched at the annual OneLife LA event on January 20 were parishioners from St. Mary’s Church in Fontana, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Community in Ontario, members from the Catholic Newman Club from Cal State, San Bernardino, Diocesan Office of Ministry with Young Catholics, and Diocesan seminarians from St. Junipero Serra House of Formation.

On Wednesday, Dec. 20th, the faithful of the Diocese gathered for Mass at Queen Of Angels Church in Riverside to cap a year of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Bishop Gerald Barnes’ Episcopal Ordination. At the close of Mass, Bishop Barnes presented each parish with a lantern to signify the beginning of the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Diocese.
