More than 580 adults from throughout the six vicariates of the diocese, who have gone through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program at their parishes, took part in the 2025 Rite of Election in the early days of March. The Rite of Election is a special rite for these catechumens before they are admitted into the Church at the Easter Vigil liturgy. At the Rite of Election, Bishop Alberto Rojas judges the readiness of the catechumens for initiation and declares that they are chosen to receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Also, during the Rite of Election, catechumens sign the Book of the Elect, a representation of their desire to enter fully into the life of the Church through the Easter Sacraments. Once the adults sign their name in this book, they go from being catechumens to being the Elect.
