Bishop Emeritus Gerald R. Barnes blessed a new ultrasound machine at a Palm Desert pregnancy resource center on August 25. Birth Choice is a faith-based organization that is funded by donations from individuals, churches and local businesses. SK Alex Castanon, Knights of Columbus Arrowhead Desert Valley Chapter Vice President, spearheaded this project. Birth Choice Centers do not provide or refer for abortion services or abortifacients.
Monsignor Gerard M. Lopez, STL, Vicar General of the Diocese, performed a second blessing of three more ultrasound machines donated by the Knight of Columbus Arrowhead Desert Valley Chapter on Sept. 29 at a Birth Choice Center in Temecula.
