Following Pope Francis’ message, we are called to be the Light of Hope! We can do that each spring by supporting the Spring Combined Collection.

Our efforts to reach out for support of several worthy causes through one big collection on May 19 and 20 helps us to live out the Works of Mercy and give to something bigger than ourselves. The four worthy ministries who benefit are:

Peter’s Pence

The purpose of Peter’s Pence is to provide the Holy Father with the financial means to respond to those who are suffering as a result of war, oppression, natural disaster, and disease.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ “...to bring good news to the poor ... release to captives ... sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free.” (Luke 4:18). CCHD works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out.

Catholic Communication Campaign

Through Internet, social networks, television, radio, and print, the Catholic Communications Campaign (CCC) helps the Church spread the Gospel message through the media locally and nationally. Half of all donations to the CCC collected in the diocese stay in the Diocese to support our local communication needs, such as this paper, El Compás Católico and more.

Catholic Relief Services

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. CRS is motivated by the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cherish, preserve and uphold the sacredness and dignity of all human life, foster charity and justice, and embody Catholic social and moral teaching.
