As Bishop Barnes has written: “As Roman Catholics we believe in the dignity of every human person and that every life has value. Acts of violence disrespect that dignity. We are especially pained when we see acts of violence that are sanctioned by law. Abortion is a prime example of this.” Laws that devalue the dignity of our humanity, such as in abortion and euthanasia inflict a societal wound for generations to come. It is contrary to our Christian values and detrimental to the common good.

OneLife LA is an opportunity to be the voice of reason and a beacon of hope in our community. Last year over 20,000 people attended the event. Many of them were from the millennial generation that has rejected the false claims of abortion; a generation that proudly promulgates a Culture of Life. By joining Bishop Barnes, we are participating in God’s plan for humanity. Let us celebrate together the beauty and dignity of every human life!

OneLife LA is sponsored by the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Office of Life, Justice and Peace. It begins at 12 noon at La Placita/Olvera Street. Participants will walk to Grand Park for a family-friendly day of inspiring speakers, live music, entertainment, food trucks, and exhibits from community organizations serving those in need. A Requiem Mass for the Unborn at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will follow at 5 p.m. For more information about the event, visit OneLifeLA.org.

Bishop Barnes is also walking on behalf of our Gabriel Project which supports the diocesan Natural Family Planning and Post Abortion Healing programs.
