The following letter from Bishop Gerald Barnes is to be read at weekend Masses September 5-6.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Peace be with you! As we read and reflect on the life of our Lord Jesus Christ through the Gospels, it is evident that while the Lord ministered to many, there were certain groups of people that were of particular concern to him and were often in his mind and heart. One such group was the sick. We hear this reality in the Gospel of St. Matthew, “When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them and he cured their sick” (Mt 14:14).
